About Donna Conrad —
Donna Ellen Conrad is a multi-genre writer and visual artist. A Pushcart Prize nominee and finalist for the Andre Dubus Award for Short Fiction, she holds an MA in poetry from Brown University.
Her books for children include How I Sent My Hug Around the World, which she wrote and designed, illustrated by acclaimed Balinese artist Monez Gusmang, and See You Soon Moon (Knopf), named one of the “Best Children’s Books of the Year” by Child Magazine and Barnes & Noble. Her writing has appeared in numerous literary journals, anthologies, and the best-selling Cup of Comfort series. Her other written works include four screenplays (The Gersh agency).
Her forthcoming novel, Swimming to the Gods—a finalist for the St. Lawrence Book Award—is a sweeping story of love and resilience across five generations of a family.
Conrad has taught writing in a range of settings—from high school classrooms to a college prison program—and served as Writer-in-Residence at Lexington High School in Massachusetts.
She is a mother and grandmother and lives in Bali, Indonesia and Los Angeles with her husband, world-renowned cinematographer Russell Carpenter (Titanic, Avatar), and her extended family.
